Unicorn Idea

Premium car servicing in India is going to be a unicorn and I don't think enough people are saying it out loud yet.

Here's why I believe it. A car in India is not a machine for most men, it's basically family. I've seen friends worry more about a scratch on their car than a scratch on their own hand. That emotional attachment is the whole unlock. When someone finds a mechanic they trust with their car, they don't leave. Not for a discount, not for convenience, nothing. They'll drive across the city to the same garage because that guy "understands" their car.

Now put a number on that. If a premium car owner sticks with one service provider for 5 plus years, spending 20k odd twice a year, you're looking at 2 to 2.5 lakh in lifetime value from a single customer. This is all without Value added services (VAS), detailing is cheery on the cake.

That's rare in Indian consumer business. Most categories here are built on discount hopping and zero loyalty. This one isn't. People don't shop mechanics like they shop cabs.

That's also why the P&L looks different from every other consumer startup you'll see in India. You're not burning money every quarter fighting for the same customer again and again. You win the customer once, at acquisition, and then retention just compounds on its own. Low churn, high LTV, decent margins because premium car parts and labor aren't price sensitive categories. Everything about this business model rewards patience instead of punishing it.

Add to this that authorized service centers for premium cars are expensive, slow and impersonal. Nobody loves going there. That gap is sitting wide open for someone who can build trust at the same emotional level as the neighborhood mechanic but with the professionalism of a real company behind it.

The playbook checks out on paper. The only hard part now is building that trust fast enough without losing the personal touch that made this business work in the first place.

The MOAT is distribution and customer experience.
